CIVIL RIGHTS LAW issues in this database include two distinctly different database categories: (1) issues relating to the New York “Civil Rights Law” statutes, which often concern the right to privacy; and (2) issues relating to 42 USC 1983, which often involve the use of excessive force by police officers. Both “Civil Rights Law” database categories touch on additional database categories. Some of the additional categories are listed here in “all caps” and boldface. All of the issues described below are included in both the “Civil Rights Law” database category and any other category indicated. The entries below may aid in choosing the most relevant categories and keywords for searches in these two distinct areas of the law.
