Effective Date: March 22, 2014; Link to Google Analytics Updated May 21, 2019

In order to plan the future of this website, I must have some idea of the number of attorneys who find it useful. For that reason, I have set up an account with “Google Analytics.” It is my understanding Google Analytics uses “cookies” to collect “non-personally identifying information” about visits to the website which includes the number of users (as well as a great deal of additional information). I refer you to the Google Analytics website for all relevant information about the service. I intend to use the information gathered by Google Analytics about visits to the New York Appellate Digest website solely for my own edification to gauge the level of interest in the website and for no other purpose.

I use an email service called “MailChimp” to let readers know when the “Latest Posts” on the Home Page have been updated and when any other new material is available on the site. You can be added to the MailChimp mailing list only by affirmatively choosing to do so. You can limit the information provided when signing up for the mailing list, only an email address is required. As part of the service offered by MailChimp, a report is generated for each mailing showing which recipients “opened” or “clicked on” the email. There is an “unsubscribe” button in every email sent out by MailChimp which will remove you from the list. I intend to use the information gathered by MailChimp solely for my own edification to gauge the level of interest in the New York Appellate Digest website and for no other purpose.

If you have any questions or concerns about privacy issues, please get in touch with me by email at NewYorkAppellateDigest@gmail.com or by phone at 585 645-8902.

CASE-LAW DATABASE SEARCHES ON THIS SITE ARE EASY:

PICK A CATEGORY IN THE DROP-DOWN MENU OF THE SEARCH PANEL ABOVE;

CHOOSE ONE OR TWO STRONG WORDS OR A STRONG PHRASE YOU ARE FAIRLY SURE WILL BE IN THE DECISIONS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR;

PUT THE KEYWORD(S) OR PHRASE IN QUOTES IN THE “KEYWORDS” LINE OF THE SEARCH PANEL AND CLICK ON “SEARCH”;

DO ADDITIONAL SEARCHES WITH OTHER STRONG WORDS (REVEALED BY THE SUMMARIES FOUND IN THE INITIAL SEARCH) TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FOUND EVERYTHING.

FOR EXAMPLE:

A Student Was Assaulted in School, Is the School Liable?

Click On “Education-School Law” in the Drop-Down Menu;

A Single Search for the Keyword “Assault” Will Pick Up Most of the Cases;

Searches for Other Keywords May Find More Cases, Words Like “Attack” “Bullied” “Punch” “Fight” “Shove” “Push” “Harass” “Gym” “Recess” etc.;

Searches for Such Simple Words Will Work Because Only the “Education-School Law” Category Is Searched. A Search for “Harass” or “Assault” or “Fight” in the “Criminal Law” Category, for example, Will Yield Completely Different Results;

By Doing Several Searches, Each with Different Strong Words or Phrases, You Will Ensure Completeness.

For More Search Tips Go to the “Streamlined Research” Page (Top Menu).
